MacKenzie Scott was born in San Francisco and her parents were Holiday Robin (née Cuming), a homemaker, and Jason Baker Tuttle, a financial planner. She has two brothers and it is known that she was named after her maternal grandfather, G. Scott Cuming.
Her maternal grandfather was an executive and general counsel at El Paso Natural Gas. Concerning education, MacKenzie Scott in 1988, graduated from the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut and earned her bachelor’s degree in English in 1992.
She was at Princeton University, where she studied under Nobel Laureate in Literature Toni Morrison.
