German-born Lucas Luhr, who was born in Mülheim-Kärlich on July 22, 1979, is well-known in the racing community. His exceptional career as a racing driver, with a focus on sports car racing in particular, is what has made him most well-known.

Career

In 1989, when he started competing in kart races, Luhr became acquainted with motorsports. He swiftly ascended the ranks throughout the early 1990s, winning multiple regional and national karting titles. He was hired as a factory driver by the CRG firm in 1994 when his skill was recognized. His connection with this group launched his career, as he went on to win the European Karting Championship and rank an astounding fourth in the Karting World Championship.

Luhr’s promotion to vice-champion of the German Formula Ford championship in 1996 marked the change from karts to automobiles. His career in auto racing officially began at that point. As he competed in the German Formula Three Championship in 1997 and 1998, he continued to excel, culminating in a victory in the season-opening at the Hockenheimring in 1998.

When Lucas Luhr joined the Porsche factory team in 1999, his career underwent a huge change. He won the 1999 Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland title while racing for the UPS Junior Team, demonstrating the great success of this relationship. The next year, he switched to the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), working with Dirk Müller and driving a Porsche 911 GT3-R for Dick Barbour Racing. This was the first in a string of triumphs.

Luhr won races including the 12 Hours of Sebring, 24 Hours of Le Mans, 1000 km Nürburgring, and the Race of 1000 Years in Adelaide during his first season in the ALMS. He also won the ALMS GT class title, which is an amazing accomplishment for a rookie.

In 2007, Lucas Luhr embarked on a new chapter in his racing career by becoming a factory Audi driver. He participated in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) series, where he drove an Audi A4 DTM for Audi Sport Team Rosberg. Simultaneously, he took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, driving the LMP1 class R10 TDI.

Luhr and co-driver Marco Werner participated in the American Le Mans Series the next year in an Audi R10. The pair’s exceptional performance led to six overall victories and eight class victories, which helped them win the LMP1 class drivers’ championship.

Lucas Luhr turned his attention in 2012 to the American Le Mans Series, where he raced for Muscle Milk Motorsports. He proved his stamina and talent by winning the LMP1 title. He also competed for Starworks Motorsport in the Rolex Sports Car Series, winning a race there.
