German-born Lucas Luhr, who was born in Mülheim-Kärlich on July 22, 1979, is well-known in the racing community. His exceptional career as a racing driver, with a focus on sports car racing in particular, is what has made him most well-known.

In 1989, when he started competing in kart races, Luhr became acquainted with motorsports. He swiftly ascended the ranks throughout the early 1990s, winning multiple regional and national karting titles. He was hired as a factory driver by the CRG firm in 1994 when his skill was recognized. His connection with this group launched his career, as he went on to win the European Karting Championship and rank an astounding fourth in the Karting World Championship.

When Lucas Luhr joined the Porsche factory team in 1999, his career underwent a huge change. He won the 1999 Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland title while racing for the UPS Junior Team, demonstrating the great success of this relationship. The next year, he switched to the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), working with Dirk Müller and driving a Porsche 911 GT3-R for Dick Barbour Racing. This was the first in a string of triumphs.
