Lando Buzzanca was an Italian stage, film and television actor. He was born on August 24, 1935, and it is important to note that the career of Lando Buzzanca had a duration of over 65 years.
He was born to a cinema projectionist and did not come as a surprise when 16-year-old Lando Buzzanca stopped high school and relocated to Rome.
His main focus on Rome was to pursue a career in acting. He worked as a waiter and furniture mover, and eventually, he got the chance to play the role of a slave in the film titled Ben-Hur.
His appearance in Petro Germi’s Divorce Italian Style marked his debut and with the passage of time, Lando Buzzanca got acquainted with the role of the average immigrant from Southern Italy.
He starred in two James Tont films in which he played the parody of James Bond. Later on, Lando Buzzanca experienced success when he was featured in a series of satirical commedia sexy all’italiana films.
He featured in Il merlo maschio(1971) and in subsequent years, Lando Buzzanca started acting alongside popular and well-known actresses such as Claudia Cardinale, Catherine Spaak, Barbara Bouchet, Gloria Guida, Senta Berger as well as Joan Collins.
Lando Buzzanca decided to focus more on theater and television and soon in the 2000s he began to be popular again.
This was after he had started in some TV series. He featured in I Vicere in 2007 and he was nominated for the David di Donatello for Best Leading Actor. It must be emphasized that Lando Buzzanca won the Globo d’oro for best actor.
Between 2012 and 2014, Lando Buzzanca was featured in 28 episodes of the successful TV series il restauratore. Even though he was experiencing depression following the demise of his wife, he managed to finish the entire 28 episodes.
In 2013, Lando Buzzanca attempted suicide due to the demise of his wife. A year later, he suffered from mild cerebral ischemia and it caused him aphasia. Fortunately for him, he recovered and soon started a relationship with Antonella.
He played the role in the television program Ballando con Le Stelle as a dancer in 2016 and soon started dating the young actress and journalist Francesca Della Valle.
Lando Buzzanca suffered a head injury on April 21, 2021, after falling down.
He fell unconscious and was subsequently admitted to the Santo Spirito Hospital in Rome.
He was hospitalized on December 27, 2021, due to ill-health. He started suffering from senile dementia and unfortunately died on December 18, 2022, at the Agostino Gemeli University Polyclinic in Rome. He was 87 years old.
