Jose Schulz is a renowned German diplomat who was born in Frankfurt/Main on July 10, 1968, and is now the Federal Republic of Germany’s ambassador to Bolivia. As the leader of the La Paz Embassy, Schulz is essential to the upkeep of Bolivian-German diplomatic ties.
In 1987, Schulz started his academic career at Hertzhaimer-Gymnasium in Trostberg by passing his Abitur test. After that, he completed his required military service in the Mountain Infantry Battalion 232 at Bischofswiesen.
Up until 1992, he studied business administration at the universities of Passau and Barcelona. In 1997, Schulz obtained a doctorate in economics with a focus on foreign commerce and money from the University of Passau.
Schulz served in the Foreign Office’s preparation service from 1997 to 1999, following his successful completion of the selection process. He started working as a consultant at the Department for Foreign Trade Promotion at the Foreign Office headquarters in 1999 after passing the career examination.
Later, he worked in a variety of capacities in several embassies, including those in Mexico City, Washington, and New Delhi, where he was responsible for press and public relations, protocol, and economics.
In addition to his vast expertise, Schulz has worked on important projects like the Afghanistan-Pakistan Working Group, German humanitarian aid implementation, and foreign energy policy.
He started serving as Bolivia’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador in August 2022, representing Germany’s diplomatic interests in the Plurinational State of Bolivia.
