Kaitlan Collins is an American journalist born on April 7, 1992 in Prattville, Alabama, U.S to Jeff Collins and his wife. She was raised by both parents in Prattville where she attended high school.
Collins had her high school education in Prattville High School and continued to the University of Alabama where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and journalism. While at University of Alabama, Collins joined the Alpha Phi sorority.
According to the former CNN White House correspondent, her parents were not involved in politics and hardly expressed their political opinions or voting for that matter. However, they gave her the freedom to choose her own career path which started by reading political science in the university.
She got her first journalism work at The Daily Caller, a month after graduating from the University of Alabama. She became the website’s entertainment reporter till 2016 where she covered the presidential election. Collins excelled in her reporting of the election and was named as their White House correspondent in January 2017.
However, by July 2017, Collins was interviewed and later hired to become White House correspondent for CNN. A position she held until 2022 where she was added to the hosts of CNN This Morning.
Collins became the youngest chief White House correspondent for CNN in their entire history at the age of 28. This also made her one of the youngest chief correspondents for a major media network in the U.S.
She is now away from the White House and is serving as co-host of CNN This Morning with Poppy Harlow and Don Lemon.
