Ellen Sprunger was born on August 5, 1986 in Nyon. Ellen Sprunger is a Swiss heptathlete and with total points of 6,124, she holds the bragging rights as the second-best performance of all time by a Swiss woman.

She was admitted into the World Class Potentials funding project of the Swiss Athletics Association at the end of 2008. She has a sibling called Léa Sprunger. Léa Sprunger is also a track and field athlete and they both compete for COVA Nyon.

Since 2010, Ellen Sprunger has worked with Adrian Rothenbühler as her coach. It must be noted that she was part of the Swiss 4 x 100-meter relay team. Other members of the team are Sarah Atcho, Salomé Kora and Ajla Del Ponte. The team holds the Swiss record in this discipline with 42.87 seconds.
