Horst Jussen was a German actor, author, cabaret artist and director. Horst Jussen was born on January 10, 1941, in Recklinghausen but grew up in Husum. He had his education at a business high school. Right after completing and graduating from the business high school, Horst Jussen had training as a bank clerk.
In 1962, he made the move into acting school. It must be noted that between 1963 and 1965, he got engaged at the Freie Volksbuhne Berlin. Horst Jussen founded his Berlin touring theater in 1965. Unfortunately, he had no option but to end the tours after 17 performances.
Horst Jussen then worked as a cabaret artist from 1967. He worked at the Renitenztheater in Stuttgart. He was also a member of the Munich Laughing and Shooting Society from 1969 till it was temporarily dissolved in 1972. While a member of the Munich Laughing and Shooting Society, the likes of Dieter Hildebrandt, Klaus Havenstein, Jurgen Scheller and Ursula Noack were also members.
It must be emphasized that Horst Jussen appeared on theater stages in Dusseldorf, Cologne and Hamburg. In total, Horst Jussen went on 24 theater tours. He played in both tabloid pieces and serious plays.
Horst Jussen played a role in the ARD slapstick series Klimbim from 1976 to 1977 and later in 1990, he also played the lead role in the comedy series titled The Dear Relatives. With Klimbim Family Lives, Horst Jussen went on a guest tour with the old Klimbim ensemble from May 2004.
There were as much as 320 Performances. Horst Jussen also made guest appearances in many television series some of which include Derrick, Homicide and Florida Lady. He appeared as Prussian on duty twice a year from 2001 onwards. He did so with Chiemgauer Volkstgeater in TV recordings by Bayerischer Rundfunk.
Horst Jussen received the Adolf Grimme Prize. As an author, Horst Jussen’s third novel, Joseph Satan was published in February 2007. He also won the Brothers Grimm Prize from the State of Berlin. The prize was in respect of his children’s theater play. The children’s theater play was titled Kaspar and the Lion Poldi.
Horst Jussen Cause of Death
Horst Jussen unfortunately died on November 10, 2008, due to lung cancer. He was buried in the Grunwald forest cemetery near Munich.
Marriage
Horst Jussen and pop singer, Lena Valaitis got married in 1979. They had a son and lived in Berlin. Horst Jussen had been a heavy smoker for several years. He suffered from lung cancer.
