Who Is Hanne Haller?
Hanne Haller was a German pop singer, composer, writer, producer, and sound engineer. She was born on January 14, 1950, in Rendsburg, Germany, and passed away on November 15, 2005, in Tegernsee, Germany.
She was raised in the province of Schleswig-Holstein by a banking father and an opera singer mother.
Hanne played the drums for a band called “The Rooks” in Ronnenberg, close to Hannover, when she was still in school.
She initially studied athletics after graduating from high school in 1968 but had to discontinue because of a terrible illness. She started a gospel choir that same year and later cut a single for the Wetzlar-based Christian publishing business “Frohe Botschaft”.
After completing the “MTA” exam in 1970, Hanne followed a profession in medicine and qualified as a medical assistant. She was employed by the Georg-August University in Göttingen’s X-ray and biochemistry lab.
But music remained her genuine love, and in 1971 she published her debut record, “Applause for Hanne Haller.” Unfortunately, the record company’s collapse prevented the album from ever being published.
After this failure, Hanne relocated to Munich to study the craft of sound engineering. She held a variety of positions within the music business and began writing music in the late 1970s using the alias “Hansi Echer.
When Karel Gott performed her song “Where the Wind Blows the Leaves” in 1978, her songwriting prowess became well known. She also wrote music for well-known performers like Curd Jürgens.
Hanne had the chance to compete in the German entry for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1979 with the song “Goodbye, Chérie,” which came in eighth.
Her popularity increased as a result, and she continued to put out new music, frequently working with lyricist Bernd Meinunger. Along with Meinunger, she established her own music publishing firm in 1982.
In 2008, it was made public that Hanne had dated Ramona Leiss, a radio and television hostess, for four years in the late 1980s. Her lengthy discography, which includes albums like “Na und,” “Stärker als ich,” and “Gute Nachricht,” carries on Hanne Haller’s legacy.
After her death, her record label issued the devotional music CD “We sind only Gast auf dieser Welt” as a posthumous release.
