Günter Schlivka Cause of Death : Full Details

Günter Schliwka was a German German weightlifter who was born on May 9, 1956. Günter Schliwka  was born in Wolmirstedt , Magdeburg district of Germany but grew up in Samswegen.

He grew up with seven siblings and it must be noted that he took to weightlifting at a tender age.
He learned the trade of a car locksmith after graduating from school.

At age 17, Günter Schliwka joined the National People’s Army and became a member of the ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt (Oder).

Günter Schlivka died in September 2023 and he was survived by a son, daughter and two grandchildren. He was 67 years old at the time of his death. The cause of his death is yet to be updated.

Günter Schlivka helped SSV Samswegen as its sports director and coach. He also worked as a caretaker at several schools in the Börde district.

Career

Günter Schliwka placed second at the GDR youth weightlifting championship in the all-around athletics competition in 1973.
Later in 1974, he became the GDR youth middleweight champion with 227.5 kg in a duel.

It must also be noted that Günter Schliwka placed fourth in the lightweight category at the GDR senior championship in 1974. A year later, he increased his weight to 240 kilograms. He placed third in 1975 when he took part in the Baltic Cup; achieving 265 kg in the lightweight category.

Günter Schliwka again increased his weight to 275 kilograms in the lightweight category at the 1975 Junior World Championships in Marseille. He placed 6th in that competition.

In 1976, Günter Schliwka graduated into the middleweight division as he had exceeded 300 kilograms. Günter Schliwka placed third at the Berlin Grand Prix.
He also placed 2nd at the 976 Oder Cup tournament in Frankfurt (Oder).

He was the winner at the 1977 World and European Championships in Stuttgart in the middleweight division. He did not do so well at the European Championships in Havířov in 1978. He only achieved 317.5 kg (137.5-180) in the duel and took the 5th place.

During the World Championship in Gettysburg / USA, Günter Schliwka improved his performance and placed fourth. He was third at the Warsaw Pact Armies Championships (SKDA Championships in 1979 and in 1980, Günter Schliwka qualified for the Olympic Games in Moscow.

After the Olympics, he stopped weightlifting as a competitive sport.
