Giovanni Di Lorenzo was born on August 4, 1993, and he is an Italian professional footballer. He was born in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. It must be noted that Giovanni Di Lorenzo plays as a right-back and has played for clubs such as Reggina, Cuneo , Matera, Empoli, Napoli as well as the Italy National Team.
Giovanni Di Lorenzo played for the youth team of Reggina in 2009 and later made his debut for the senior on May 29, 2011. He was with Lega Pro Prima Divisione side Cuneo for the 2012/2013 season on loan and played 27 matches.
He played 58 matches and scored 3 goals as a player for Matera, between 2015 and 2017. Later in August 2017, he was signed by Empoli and he played against against Cagliari in his debut on August 19, 2018.
Subsequently, Giovanni Di Lorenzo was signed by Napoli for €8 million on June 7, 2019, and he helped the team in the Serie A as they secured a win against Juventus in the Coppa Italia Final. Giovanni Di Lorenzo also helped the team to reach the the Round of 16, in the Champions League.
In his second year at Napoli, he took the team to the Round of 32 and helped the team to place fifth in the league. He extended his contract with Napoli for 5 years on July 15, 2020, even though he was linked to a move to Manchester United. He became the new captain of the team on July 14, 2022, after the exit of Lorenzo Insigne and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Giovanni Di Lorenzo has played for Italy at the U20 and U21 youth levels. He played for the Italy U21 national team for the first time on August 14, 2023, in a friendly match against Slovakia. He played for the senior national team on October 15, 2019, in a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying match.
