Early Life
Gianni was born and raised in Pola. Following the Second World War and the ensuing migration of Istrians, his family moved to La Spezia. While he was serving in the military, he and other classmates were chosen by director Francesco De Robertis for parts in the film “Ragazzi della Marina” (1958). This was fate at work.
Career
Gianni left the military after four years of duty and moved to Rome in the early 1960s to seek a film career. Apart from small-time cinema parts, he dabbled in dancing, using his towering, fit, and graceful physique to gain a coveted spot in the Rai (Italian Broadcasting Corporation) dance company.
Through his roles in television series like Canzonissima, Studio Uno, Doppia Coppia (1969), Ciao Rita (1971), Per un gradino in più (1971), and Milleluci (1974), Gianni Brezza rose to an international celebrity. Prominent people like Mina, Raffaella Carrà, Sandra Mondaini, Rita Pavone, Gisella Pagano, and Lola Falana were among his dancing partners.
In the mid-seventies, mindful of age-related considerations, Gianni gracefully transitioned from his illustrious dancing career to pursue his love for the sea as a skipper. In 1979, Gianni Brezza made a triumphant return to the stage, this time as a choreographer for the show Fantastico.
