Georg Amberger was known to be a German athlete and Olympian. Georg Amberger was born on July 31, 1890, in Hanau-Steinheim but he died on February 6, 1949, in Karlsruhe. He participated in the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm but he was eliminated in the preliminary round of the 1500 meter competition.
As a member of the 3000 meters, failure was experienced in the first round when they came against Sweden, that eventually clinched the silver medal in the event. Georg Amberger was specialized in middle-distance running.
It must be noted that Georg Amberger became the German champion in the 800-meter run in both 1918 and 1920. In the same 1920, Georg Amberger took home the bronze medal in the 400-meter run. He also set an unofficial world record of 1:06.0 minutes in the 500-meters event .
Georg Amberger placed second in the 3 x 1000-meter relay race with Karlsruher FV team in 1921. In both 1922 and 1923, Georg Amberger also won bronze in the 400-meter hurdles at the German Championships. He served as a high school teacher at Karlsruhe and was responsible for the training of the Karlsruher FV.
With the passage of time, Georg Amberger became a sports teacher. He moved to the athletics department of Karlsruher FC Phönix in 1923. Between 1921 and 1923, he served as the press representative of the Baden Athletics Association.
