Fritz Rasp can be described as a German film actor. He was born on May 13, 1891 and known to have made appearances in more than 100 films. He was born to a county surveyor and he was the thirteenth child.

With respect to education, it must be noted that Fritz Rasp attended the Theaterschule Otto Königin in Munich between 1908 and 1909. His debut as an actor was in 1909 and he worked with well-known directors such as Bertolt Brecht and Max Reinhardt and famous actors such as Albert Bassermann, Joseph Schildkraut and Werner Krauss.

He was known to have made appearances in films by director Ernst Lubitsch and he was seen as one of the most successful film villains in German film history. He received the Filmband in Gold in 1963 and this was in respect of his outstanding work in the German film industry.

He also made appearances in films such as The Crimson Circle (1960) – Froyant, The Terrible People (1960) – Lord Godley Long, The Black Sheep (1960) – Lord Kingsley, The Strange Countess (1961) – Lawyer Shaddle, The Puzzle of the Red Orchid (1962) – Tanner, Das schwarz-weiß-rote Himmelbett (1962) – Pfarrer / Parson, Erotikon – Karussell der Leidenschaften (1963) – Der Schloßverwalter, Praetorius (1965) – Shunderson, Lina Braake (1975) – Gustaf Haertlein and Dorothea Merz (1976, TV film) – Der alte Merz.

Fritz Rasp died on November 30, 1976 at the age of 85. He died in Gräfelfing. He had a son called Andreas Rasp and a daughter called Renate Rasp. Whereas Andreas Rasp worked as a Gymnasium teacher and poet, Renate Rasp was a notable writer linked to Group 47.
