It must be emphasized that apart from swimming, he was involved in water polo. With respect to water polo, Emil Kurt Benecke in 1922 and 1924, became the German champion. He participated in the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam and that was the first time German athletes had the chance to partake in the Olympics after the First World War.
He was a member of the German water polo team. Later in 1932, he won the silver medal in water polo at the Olympic Games that was held in Los Angeles. Kurt Benecke died after the end of the Second World War when he was a captive in the Soviet Union.
