Multi-talented entertainer Dirk Bach was born in Cologne, Germany, on April 23, 1961, and had a big influence on the country’s entertainment sector. He started his theatrical career at a young age, landing his first role in Heiner Müller’s Prometheus in 1978.
With his extensive theatrical expertise, Bach performed all over the world, including in Vienna, Utrecht, Brussels, Amsterdam, London, and New York City.
When Bach made an appearance in Walter Bockmayer’s play Geierwally in the middle of the 1980s, it marked his comedic breakthrough. He continued from there to join the Schauspiel Köln ensemble permanently. He demonstrated his acting ability by performing well in both serious and comedic roles.
Bach not only enjoyed success in the theatre but also gained fame on television. He served as host of several programmes, such as Lukas, The Little Monk, and The Dirk Bach Show. As Sonja Zietlow’s co-host on the well-liked reality TV programme I’m a Celebrity – Get Me Out of Here!, he attracted even more attention.
Bach was a social activist in addition to his acting profession. He advocated in the battle against HIV and AIDS, backed groups like PETA and Amnesty International, and ran campaigns for LGBTQ+ rights.
One of Bach’s humanitarian endeavours was organising the Cover Me benefit concert series, which over ten years raised money for a variety of causes.
