Asül attended the Robert Koch Gymnasium in Deggendorf while growing up in the Lower Bavarian market town of Hengersberg. Following his high school graduation in 1992, he trained to become a tennis coach and took an apprenticeship at Sparkasse Deggendorf as a bank clerk.
Asül started his cabaret career in the mid-1990s, having been inspired by a cabaret programme hosted by Matthias Beltz in Berlin. He has been touring with his stage shows since 1997 and has been well-known for his cameos on several television programmes, such as 7 Tage, 7 Köpfe.
