Booker has proven to be the son of his father and has the athletic blood flowing through his veins. He received a lot of basketball tips from his father right from childhood and by the time Booker was 12, he started playing with Danilo Gallinari who currently plays for the Boston Celtics.

He joined the basketball team when he got to high school at Granville High School in Michigan. However, he later moved to Mississippi after his father retired from professional basketball and attended Moss Point School. By then his father was hired as the assistant coach of the school hence Booker got to play under his father.

He was again very exceptional at Moss Point High School dropping match winning performances every now and then. And through his performances received a number of scholarship offers from Florida, North Carolina, Missouri, Michigan, Mississippi State.

Booker continued his exploits at Moss Point High School throughout his final year averaging 30.9 points per game in that season and graduating with a total point of 2,518. He was then named in the third team of the USA Today All-USA.

He also won the MVP in the 2014 Alabama vs Mississippi All star game while playing for the Mississippi team before enrolling in the University of Kentucky where he was on a scholarship.
