Monteith’s childhood was marked by difficulties. His parents divorced when he was just seven years old, and he, along with his older brother Shaun, was raised by their mother in Victoria, British Columbia. Monteith’s portrayal of Finn in “Glee” earned him critical acclaim and awards, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Teen Choice Award. He sang lead on numerous songs for the show, despite not being a singer before being cast.
Outside of “Glee,” he ventured into the world of film, appearing in “Monte Carlo” (2011), “Sisters & Brothers” (2011), and “All The Wrong Reasons” (2013). His final two films, “All the Wrong Reasons” and “McCanick,” premiered posthumously at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.
