Cillian Murphy is an Irish actor who was born on May 25, 1976. He was born in Douglas, Cork. His mother was a French teacher and his father worked for the Department of Education. Cillian Murphy was raised in Ballintemple, Cork, and had three siblings . They are his younger brother Páidi and two younger sisters Sile and Orla. It must be noted that Cillian Murphy started writing and performing songs when he was 20 years old.
He had his education at Presentation Brothers College. While in school, he participated in a drama module presented by Corcadorca Theatre Company director Pat Kiernan. His English teacher, Novelist William Wall encouraged him to pursue acting but his interest lied in becoming a rockstar.
In 1996 when Cillian Murphy was at University College Cork, he failed his first-year exams. He started developing an interest in acting after seeing Corcadorca’s stage production of A Clockwork Orange, directed by Kiernan.
He made his debut in Enda Walsh’s 1996 play Disco Pigs, and over the years he has featured in a lot more of other films. Some of these films include the horror film 28 Days Later (2002), the dark comedy Intermission (2003), the thriller Red Eye (2005), the Irish war drama The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006), and the science fiction thriller Sunshine (2007).
It must be noted that Cillian Murphy played the role of a transgender Irish woman in the comedy-drama Breakfast on Pluto (2005). His role in the film earned him a Golden Globe Award nomination. Other films Cillian Murphy has been involved with include The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005–2012), Inception (2010), Dunkirk (2017), Oppenheimer (2023), the BBC period drama series Peaky Blinders (2013–2022) and A Quiet Place Part II (2020).

Even though there are reports that Cillian Murphy has cancer, that is not the case. He has no disease. It is a lump behind his ear that sparked the concerns. It must be noted that the lump behind his ear has been there since his childhood days.
Personal life
Cillian Murphy married Yvonne McGuinness in 2004. They met in 1996 during one of his rock band’s shows. They lived in Dublin but in 2001, Yvonne McGuinness went to London for the Royal College of Art and stayed there for 14 years.
However, in 2015, Cillian Murphy and Yvonne McGuinness moved back to Dublin. They have two sons but their child died due to a miscarriage.

Over the years, Cillian Murphy has been nominated for several awards. Some of these awards are 2002 Ourense Independent Film Festival Award, 2003Empire Award, 2003 Irish Film & Television Award, 2004 MTV Movie Award, 2005 Irish Film & Television Award and 2005 Satellite Award. Others include London Film Critics’ Circle Award, Golden Globe Award, Saturn Award, European Film Award, British Independent Film Award, Dublin Film Critics’ Circle Award and GQ UK Award all in 2006.
