Full list of category A schools in Ghana.

In Ghana, senior high schools have been grouped into 4 categories by the Ghana Education Service.

It is the dream of every parent to see their wards attending the best senior high school in the country. Such schools are mostly referred to as the category A schools, according to the Ghana Education Service.

This ranking is done according to excelling schools. This is to help junior high school pupil especially BECE candidates to make a choice in the Senior high school they want to attend.

I am also compelled to say that, this ranking serves as a boost and motivation for the JHS students to study hard to be able to attend their dream school.

The SHS schools are divided into these categories: A, B, C, D. These also includes other private Senior high school, Technical schools and Vocational.  

As said earlier, the ranking is done according to the academic performance of the school mostly and sometimes their facilities.

And so, category “A” schools are well thought out to be the best, followed by category “B”, then “C “and then “D”.

Every year, the list is updated, because some schools move to other categories.

For instance a category C school can improve in academics and facilities and so will be added to lets say category B.

In this post, I have listed all the category A schools in Ghana currently. You’ll also see them categorized by the region in which they are found.
