Bear Grylls was born on June 7, 1974, and he was a British adventurer, writer, television presenter and businessman. He is quite fluent in English, Spanish, and French. Many people got to know him after embarking on some adventures.

He also became popular for his television series Man vs. Wild (2006–2011). Bear Grylls was born in Donaghadee, Northern Ireland and grew up there till age 4 when he had to relocate to Bembridge on the Isle of Wight.

His parents were politician Sir Michael Grylls and Sarah “Sally” (née Ford). Bear Grylls had an elder sister; Lara Fawcett. While growing up, he learned how to climb and sail with his father who was then a member of the Royal Yacht Squadron.

He also learned to skydive and earned a second dan black belt in Shotokan karate. Concerning education, Bear Grylls was educated at Eaton House, Ludgrove School and Eton College.

While a student at the University of the West of England, Bristol, he studied Spanish and German. He also graduated from the Birkbeck College with a 2:2 bachelor’s degree, obtained part-time, in Hispanic studies in 2002.

Bear Grylls hiked in the Himalayan mountains of Sikkim and West Bengal after completing school, and between 1994 and 1997, he served in the capacity of a trooper in the Territorial Army.

Due to an accident with respect to free fall parachuting in Kenya in 1996, he left the  Territorial Army. He broke three vertebrae in the accident as his parachute failed to open. Bear Grylls was awarded the honorary rank of lieutenant commander in the Royal Naval Reserve in 2004 and later in 2013, he was also awarded the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel in the Royal Marines Reserve .

He was promoted to Honorary Colonel in June 2021. Over the years, Bear Grylls has climbed Mount Everest, led the team to circumnavigate the British Isles on jet skis, Crossed the North Atlantic, has had an open-air formal dinner party, under a hot-air balloon at 7,600 metres (25,000 ft), dressed in full mess dress and oxygen masks, as well as Paramotored over the Himalayas.

Bear Grylls got married to his wife, Shara Cannings Knight in 2000. They had three sons.

It would be recalled that Bear Grylls intentionally left his 11-year-old son on Saint Tudwal’s Island along the North Wales coast who was rescued by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) as part of their weekly practice missions. Bear Grylls’ son was unharmed but the RNLI criticized Grylls for that stunt.
