Alexandra Popp was born on April 6, 1991. She is a German professional football player and plays for Frauen-Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg. Alexandra Popp also plays for the German national team.

In September 2008, she made her debut in the Bundesliga in a match against Herforder Sv. She registered her first two goals three weeks later when she played against TSV Crailshelm.
She moved to VfL Wolfsburg in the 2012/2013 season. She helped Wolfsburg to defend their UEFA Women’s Champions League title. Alexandra Popp scored the winning goal against Frankfurt to win the Bundesliga.
She scored the second goal and helped Germany to win the 2008 UEFA U-17 Women’s Championship. In that same year, the German team placed third in the 2008 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. She made her debut for the senior national team in February 2010.
However, she played for Germany in the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Germany won that tournament and Alexandra Popp became the top goalscorer and the best player of the tournament. She scored in each game and had a total of 10 goals.
Alexandra Popp played at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Later that year, she scored 4 goals against Kazakhstan in a European Championship qualifying match; the team won by 17 goals. Alexandra Popp became the seventh German woman to score four goals in an international game.
She earned a call-up on May 24, 2015, for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and was also part of the German team for the 2016 Summer Olympics.Germany won the Gold medal at the Olympics. She won the Silbernes Lorbeerblatt for her performance together with the team.
However, she missed the 2017 UEFA women’s Euro tournament due to injury. She captained the German team during the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
