He was also known as an action hero on TV. It must be noted that the acting career of Hellmut Lange started off on various radio drama shows for the West German Radio Station Sender Freies Berlin also known as Radio Free Berlin. He was also on high demand as an author of articles about cinema. Hellmut Lange retired from TV and acting when he was over 70 years old reportedly due to ill-health.
