Bobby Farrell was born on October 6, 1949, and he was an Aruban dancer and singer. Bobby Farrell was a member of the 1970s pop and disco group Boney M. He grew up on the island of Aruba in the Dutch colony of Curaçao and Dependencies (later known as the Netherlands Antilles).
He had some sort of education and at age 15 when he had finished school, he worked for two years as a sailor. Later on, he relocated to Norway and then to the Netherlands where he served as a DJ. Subsequently, he moved to Germany.
While in Germany, Bobby Farrell worked as a DJ but with the passage of time, he was discovered by producer Frank Farian and was made a member of the Boney M. group. He became the sole male singer in the group but it was later revealed that he made almost no vocal contributions to the group’s records.
Bobby Farrell left the group in 1982 and tried to pursue a solo career. Later in 1984, he re-joined the group till the group split in 1986.
Bobby Farrell Cause of Death
Bobby Farrell died on December 30, 2010. He was reported to have died in a hotel in St. Petersburg, Russia. The cause of death was heart failure. Before his death, he complained of having difficulty in breathing after a performance.
His body was found by hotel staff after he failed to respond to an alarm call.
Before his death, Bobby Farrell lived in Amsterdam, in the neighborhood of Gaasperdam in the borough of Amsterdam-Zuidoost.
He had been married to Macedonian Romani Jasmina Shaba since 1981 and they had two children; Zanillya and Zanin. They divorced in 1995. Zanillya is a rapper and she won the national music prize Grote Prijs van Nederland in the hip-hop category.
