Phil Lynott was born on August 20, 1949, and he was an Irish musician, songwriter and poet. Phil Lynott was also the co-founder, bassist, songwriter and lead vocalist of the hard rock band called Thin Lizzy. He was unique for his distinctive pack-based style on the bass as well as his imaginative lyrical contributions. Even though he was born in the West Midlands of England, he grew up in Dublin with his grandparents.
Regardless, he had a constant connection with his mother. He led so many bands as a lead vocalist but later he learned the base guitar and that was when he formed Thin Lizzy in 1969. Some of the hit songs of the band were Whiskey In the Jar, The Boys Are Back In Town, Jailbreak and Waiting for an Alibi.
He took up a solo career in the late 1970s. Phil Lynott also published two books of poetry. He again formed a band called Grand Slam after the breakdown of Thin Lizzy.
In the 1980s, Phil Lynott got addicted to heroin. Before his death in 1986, he released Out In The Fields in 1985.
Phil Lynott Cause of Death
Phil Lynott died on January 4, 1986. He was 36 years old at the time of his death. His funeral was held at St. Elizabeth Church, Richmond on January 9, 1986. He died of pneumonia and heart failure attributed to septicemia.
Family
His parents were Philomena Lynott and Cecil Parris. His parents met in England but it was after Cecil Parris had relocated to London that Philomena realized she was pregnant. After giving birth, she moved to a home for unmarried mothers in Selly Park. Later on, she moved to Manchester. Phil Lynott had his education at a school in Moss Side, Manchester.
He later relocated to Crumlin, Dublin to stay with his grandparents. It must be noted that Phil Lynott’s childhood days were a happy one and he was quite popular in school.
Marriage
He got married on February 14, 1980, to Caroline Crowther. Caroline Crowther was the daughter of British comedian, Leslie Crowther. Phil Lynott and Caroline had two children; Sarah and Cathleen. Their marriage broke down in 1984 due to Phil Lynott’s drug use.
