Anne von Canal was born on June 29, 1973 in Hüttental. She was a German writer and translator She grew up in Freudenberg and studied Scandinavian studies, German and English in Freiburg im Breisgau and Oslo.
Anne von Canal also had an editing traineeship at the Kiepenheuer & Witsch publishing house. She worked as an editor with the Lübbe publishing group and at Rowohlt Verlag but later in 2008, she started her work as an author, translator, editor and presenter of literary events with Scandinavian authors.
Since 2004, Anne von Canal has published several gift books using the pseudonyms Amelie Fichte and Lena Frey.

Anne von Canal was a scholarship holder at the Baltic Center for Writers and Translators, the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg Delmenhorst and the Fondation Heinrich & Jane Ledig-Rowohlt .
She was a guest at the Alfred Wegener Institute’s AWIPEV research station and also used that opportunity to do a research on her novel titled Whiteout.
With respect to Whiteout, Anne von Canal received a work grant from the German Literature Fund and the novel was named “Book of the Month” by NDR.
Anne von Canal Cause of Death
Anne von Canal died in October 2022. She was 49 years old at the time of her death. She died after a serious illness. Before her death, she lived in Hamburg and Winningen on the Moselle.
