Who Is Caitriona Balfe?
Caitríona Mary Balfe is an Irish actress known for her role as Claire Fraser in the Starz series Outlander.
She was the fourth of five children to be born on October 4, 1979, in Dublin, Ireland. Her father was a former sergeant with the Garda. Balfe first majored in acting at the Dublin Institute of Technology before beginning her modelling career at the age of 18 in Paris.
Balfe participated in over 250 runway shows for prestigious fashion companies throughout her modelling career, including Chanel, Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, and Louis Vuitton.
She was regarded as one of the most sought-after models in the world and excelled in the field. Balfe, however, made the decision to return to acting after ten years.
Balfe made her acting debut in the 2006 movie The Devil Wears Prada, where she played a small role. Balfe has made major appearances in other noteworthy projects in addition to Outlander. She appeared in the 2016 movie Money Monster with Julia Roberts and George Clooney. She also as Mollie Miles in the critically acclaimed sports drama film Ford v Ferrari, which was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
Balfe drew praise from critics for her co-starring part in Kenneth Branagh’s 2021 movie Belfast.
