Stefanos Tsitsipas is a Greek professional tennis player who has been making waves in the tennis world with his impressive performances and achievements.
Tsitsipas was born on August 12, 1998, in Athens, Greece, and comes from a tennis family. Julia, his mother, was a professional tennis player on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour, while Apostolos, his father, was a tennis instructor.
Tsitsipas was introduced to tennis at an early age, beginning to play at the age of three and getting instruction at the age of six. He was ranked number one in the world as a junior player and became the third Greek player, and the first Greek man in the Open Era, to win a junior Grand Slam title. In 2016, he accomplished this goal by winning the boys’ doubles tournament at Wimbledon.
Tsitsipas won his maiden ATP Tour match in late 2017 and quickly climbed the rankings the following year. In 2018, he reached three tour-level finals and won his maiden title at the Stockholm Open. With his runner-up finish at the 2018 Canadian Open, he became the youngest player to defeat four top-ten opponents in a single tournament. Tsitsipas finished the season with an exhibition title at the Next Gen ATP Finals.

Tsitsipas comes from a cosmopolitan family outside of the court. His father is from Greece, and his mother is from Russia. Surprisingly, his maternal grandpa, Sergei Salnikov, was a Soviet footballer with Greek ancestry.
Tsitsipas has three younger siblings, Petros, Pavlos, and Elisavet, all of whom are also tennis players.
