He dropped out of school and moved to Amsterdam. While in Amsterdam, he was a member of various funk and soul bands as a guitarist. Subsequently, he made his return to Essen and published a volume of poems and aphorisms.
He founded the avant-garde musical theater Kamikaze Orkester as well as the NDW band Gesundes Volksemfühlen and the EBM band. Piet Klocke also started working in film and television music and he was the brain behind the music for the two-part TV thriller Der Leibwächter (WDR, 1989).
