Currently, the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) is waiting for approval from Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, to permit the interrogation of Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South. This move comes in light of serious allegations involving drug trafficking and money laundering that have surfaced in recent days, and the chief propeller of these allegations is Ntim Fordjour.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, shared these insights during an appearance on Face to Face on Channel One TV which was duly monitored by Ghana Insider.
Felix Kwakye revealed that Ntim Fordjour has not yet responded to the inquiries posed by security agencies following his claims that two aircraft had recently landed in Ghana carrying both drugs and large sums of cash. He emphasized the necessity of transparency in this situation, suggesting that the interrogation, once authorized, should be made public to maintain trust in the investigations.
“The NIB wrote to the Speaker to release Ntim Fordjour. The Speaker is yet to respond to the NIB, as far as I am aware,” Felix Kwakye stated. Moreover, he is hopeful that once the Speaker provides a response, Rev. Ntim Fordjour will be available for questioning.
Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Kwakye Ofosu reiterated the gravity of the situation, urging that public knowledge of the interrogation would be critical not just for the respective parties involved but also for the citizens who deserve clarity on such serious allegations. “I have requested that the interrogation be public,” he affirmed, indicating that the outcome could have profound implications.
We can assure you that, as the scenario unfolds, we will give you all the latest updates. For now, all eyes will remain on how the Speaker of Parliament responds to the NIB’s request and what subsequent steps will be taken regarding the interrogation of Rev. Ntim Fordjour.
