Residents of Dzelukope, a suburban area in Keta, Volta Region, are grappling with grief and anxiety following the discovery of a man’s body in stagnant water.
The victim, identified as Atileto Edo, reportedly in his early 60s, was found floating in water near Togbi Dzelu’s road during the early hours of April 22, just after Easter picnic’s celebrations.
According to Gideon Foli Ashiagbor, a local committee member, the shocking news rapidly spread, leaving the community in fear. Edo’s remain showed alarming signs, including bruising on his forehead and blood from his nose, which has led to speculations of foul play. He reported this to Ghana News Agency.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the deceased was known to be healthy and active, further deepening the mystery surrounding his untimely death. These findings prompted immediate involvement from the Keta Police, who transported the body to the Keta Municipal Hospital for autopsy and investigation.
As it stands now, local leaders are urging the community to remain calm. They also urged them to cooperate with authorities to uncover the truth behind this tragic event.
