A heartbreaking incident unfolded at a home in Oyoko, a suburb of the New Juaben North Municipality, resulting in the tragic loss of a young student and severe injuries to two others. The explosion, which was caused by a gas leak, has left the community in shock and mourning, as observed by Ghana Insider.
According to Ghana Insider’s media team, the victim, identified as Asante Rose, was a Purchasing and Supply student at Koforidua Technical University. From reports gathered, she attempted to investigate a suspected gas leak in her kitchen. In a tragic turn of events, Rose unfortunately lit a match to locate the source, resulting in a devastating explosion.
Due to the explosion, Rose suffered critical burns and was rushed to Koforidua Central Hospital. Despite Doctors efforts to save her, she couldn’t make it and passed away shortly after arrival.
Rose’s younger brother, along with a neighbor, sustained severe burns and have been transferred to the Koforidua Central Hospital for treatment, where they are currently battling for their lives.
Emergency services, including personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, responded promptly to the incident, helping to contain the situation and assist police with their ongoing investigations.
The management of Koforidua Technical University has been informed about the tragic incident and is yet to make an official public comment.
