Bawumia visits Ntim Fordjour to show solidarity. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, visited Reverend John Ntim Fordjour on April 9, 2025. This visit comes in response to what is being described as an illegitimate arrest attempt by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

Rev. Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South and a vocal member of the Defence and Interior Committee, publicly expressed his gratitude to Bawumia for his support during this politically charged moment, denouncing it as harassment aimed at silencing MPs.

The NIB operatives reportedly attempted to arrest Rev. Ntim Fordjour at his residence based on ongoing investigations linked to grave allegations surrounding drug trafficking and money laundering. The confrontation escalated when NPP officials, including high-ranking members and MPs, mobilized to protect Fordjour, leading the NIB agents to withdraw from the scene. Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin stated, “We will not allow any of our members to be intimidated,” reinforcing the NPP’s commitment to supporting their colleagues amid rising political tensions.

This incident closely follows Fordjour’s explosive press conference on April 1, where he linked two aircrafts, a private jet and, an air ambulance to corrupt activities. According to Rev. Ntim Fordjour, one particular flight, Air MED L823 AM, landed in Ghana without any record of transporting patients, raising red flags about its operations. In response, President John Dramani Mahama has called for thorough investigations, stressing Ghana’s zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking.
