Alexandra Hildebrandt is a German human rights advocate and the head of Berlin’s Checkpoint Charlie Museum. She was born on February 27, 1959.

Hildebrandt was a major player in the global effort to free Mikhail Khodorkovsky, a Russian tycoon who became a political activist, between 2010 and 2013.
She organized an exhibition at the Checkpoint Charlie Museum to bring attention to Khodorkovsky’s incarceration after being contacted by his attorneys and family. She later enlisted the help of Hans-Dietrich Genscher, the former German Foreign Secretary, in the effort, which helped Khodorkovsky be released in 2013 following ten years in jail.
