In response to this growing outcry, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has raised his concerns at a recent National Executive Committee meeting of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He described efforts to remove Chief Justice Torkornoo as politically motivated attempts to undermine the judiciary’s independence.

“We recognize attempts by persons in government to push for her removal. The judiciary must not be drawn into partisan politics,” Afenyo-Markin asserted.

Moreover, Afenyo-Markin called for solidarity among the Supreme Court justices and urged them to resist pressures that could compromise their integrity.

He further contended that the petitions seeking Torkornoo’s removal lack substantial evidence. Thus reinforcing the necessity for the judiciary to stand unified against such challenges.
