Two policemen lost their lives in a brutal attack by suspected armed robbers in Poyamirea, near Binduri, located in Ghana’s Upper East Region.
The robbery attack, which occurred on Sunday, April 13, 2025, has sent commotions through the community, and raised public concerns about safety and security.
According to reports monitored by Ghana Insider, the officers were off duty, dressed in plain or mufti clothes, and were traveling on their private motorcycles from Bongo to Binduri at the time of the robbery attack. The robbers ambushed them, resulting in a fatal shooting that took their lives. After the attack, the armed robbers fled the scene, stealing the policemen’s motorcycles.
The Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service responded promptly, confirming the incident to the general public and launching a manhunt for the perpetrators.
In an official statement, the police expressed their condolences to the families of the victimized officers and reassured Ghanaians that those responsible for this heinous crime would be brought to justice.
