In a recent ruling at the Wa Circuit Court, 20-year-old Nawaf Abdulai has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following his involvement in a brazen motorbike robbery in Upper West Region that took place on March 6, 2025.

Alongside an accomplice, Awal Abass, who is currently evading arrest, Abdulai was charged with forcefully taking two motorbikes from their owners in the Upper West Region.

As reported to Ghana Insider News, the stolen motorcycles included a Haojue and a Luojia, carrying the registration numbers M-21-449 UW and M-17-4607 UW, respectively. Authorities arrested Abdulai just two days after the robbery, on March 8. During his interrogation, he confessed to the crime, which led to his prosecution.

On April 7, 2025, Justice Jonathan Avoogo delivered the verdict and emphasized the court’s commitment to justice in response to the rising concerns over robbery incidents in the region. The Upper West Regional Police Command commended its officers and local residents for their collaborative efforts in facilitating the swift investigation and apprehension of Abdulai.

The police highlighted their ongoing commitment to combat crime in the area, further solidifying public trust and ensuring safety. Authorities have also released Abdulai’s photograph as part of the conviction notice.
