Claus Roxin Cause of Death. What killed him

Early Life and Career

Claus was born in Hamburg to Hans and Charlotte Roxin. He pursued legal studies at the University of Hamburg from 1950–1954, where he later worked as a research assistant under Professor Heinrich Henkel.

In 1957, he earned his doctorate with a dissertation titled “Open Facts and Legal Obligation Features”.

Roxin became a professor at Georg August University of Göttingen in 1963. He was one of the founding members of the Alternative Draft Working Group and was key in the creation of the “Alternative Draft of a General Part of the Criminal Code,” which was released in 1966.

Roxin moved from Göttingen to Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 1971, where he spent 28 years researching and teaching as a full professor of criminal law, criminal procedure, and general legal theory.

In 1974, he became the Managing Director of the Institute for Criminal Law Studies, a position he held until his retirement in 1999.

In the 1970s, Roxin gained broader public recognition through his guest appearances on the popular television series How Would You Decide? (Wie würden Sie entscheiden?). The show presented real-life legal cases and invited viewers to consider how they would rule based on the facts and applicable laws.

His expertise in criminal law and legal theory made him a highly respected guest, as he provided insightful legal analysis and helped educate the public on complex legal principles in an accessible and engaging manner.

Roxin served as co-editor of the Journal of Criminal Law, the New Journal of Criminal Law, and the
Journal of Legal Studies. In 1994, he was elected a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences.

Outside his academic career, Roxin was actively involved in the Karl May Society, which he co-founded. He led the organization as chairman from 1971 to 1999 before being honored as its honorary chairman in 1999.
