Gaby Köster is a German actress, comedian and author. Gaby Köster was born on December 2 , 1961, in Cologne-Nippes and started training to become a teacher after completing secondary school. She however did not complete but rather took to music and painting.
She also worked on part-time basis in the Südstadt pub Out. While working at the pub, she got into contact with Jürgen Becker. She did some sketches for a radio show for Jürgen Becker which was used in the weekend entertainment on WDR radio.
Gaby Köster also made some appearances on radio appearances and had her own shows. She was part of the Prunksitzunk in 1990 and 1991 and also joined the Stunksession ensemble from 1991 till 1995. Her appearances on RTL Saturday Night made her more popular.
She played the lead role in the comedy series Rita’s World from 1999 to 2003. Gaby Köster also served as a juror on the RTL program Die Puppenstars from 2016 to 2017. Prior to that, she had canceled her Who Wants Cream, Must Shake Cows Tour in 2008 and she sued some newspapers who had reported that she had an illness.
She suffered a severe stroke which affected her but later on September 7, 2011, she made a public appearance on the RTL program Stern TV.
Some of the awards Gaby Köster has won over the years include 1996: Gilden Kölsch Prize, Cultural Office of the City of Cologne, together with her cousin, the singer Gerd Köster, 1998: Bambi in the Audience Award Best Comedy Show category for the show 7 Days, 7 Heads, 1998: Golden Lion for 7 days, 7 heads, 1999: German Comedy Prize in the Best Comedian category, 1999: Golden Gong, television award with the team from 7 Days, 7 Heads, 2000: Adolf Grimme Prize as the leading actress in Rita’s World (together with Peter Freiberg, Michael Gantenberg and Thomas Koch ), among others.
