Joachim Büchner was born on April 8 , 1905 in Altenburg. However, he died on February 22, 1978 in Leverkusen. Joachim Büchner was known to be a German athlete and he was known to have been very successful in his career. Joachim Büchner was at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam.
He took part in the 400-meter run and won the bronze medal. He also took part in the 1932 Olympic Games that were held in Los Angeles. Joachim Büchner took part in the 400-meter run but could not make it to the finals. This was due to the fact that he placed sixth in the semi-finals and was thus eliminated.
He also placed fourth in the 4 x 400 meter relay with the German team. With respect to the 400 meters, he set a German record with a time of 400 meters on September 1, 1927, in Magdeburg. He improved on the record on September 2, 1928, in Berlin when he made a time of 47.8 s.
By that feat, he became the first German to run under 48 seconds in the 400-meter run. His record was however broken by Rudolf Harbig nine years later. It must also be noted that Joachim Büchner was the German champion over 400 meters three times from 1927 to 1929.
He placed second in both 1931 and 1932 behind Adolf Metzner. He was a student at the Leipzig Art Academy.
