Pino Daniele Brothers and Sisters: Full Details

Pino Daniele was an Italian singer, songwriter and musician who was born on March 19, 1955. As a singer, songwriter and musician, Pino Daniele was quite influential in various genres such as pop, blues, jazz, and Italian and Middle Eastern music. Pino Daniele was said to have been born to a working-class family in Naples.

His father was a harbor worker. Pino Daniele learned to play the guitar all by himself and he launched himself into his music career by playing for other successful singers of the 1970s. His debut album on the music scene was Terra Mia, which was released in 1977.

Terra mia was a successful mix of Neapolitan tradition and Blues sound and the music of Pino Daniele was described as “tarumbò”, by himself and it was a mix of tarantella, blues and rumba. He wrote his lyrics in an intense Neapolitan and his lyrics also attracted critical praise.

His lyrics also contained strong and bitter accusations against the social injustices of Naples, as well as Italian society in general, and included melancholic personal themes. He also released Pino Daniele (1979) but his greatest success came in 1980. He released Nero a metà (“Half-Black Skinned”) and the album was considered as the hallmark of the rebirth of Neapolitan song.

He performed at the  Bob Marley concert at the San Siro stadium in Milan and in 1981, he released. Vai Mo. The likes of James Senese, Enzo Avitabile, Tullio De Piscopo and Tony Esposito have been featured on the albums of Pino Daniele.

Pino Daniele started doing world music in 1982. He held a concert in Havana and then formed a a Latin-American band. He teamed up with the American singer/guitarist Richie Havens on Common Ground, an album written and played together in 1983.

He also worked on Bonne Soirée (1987) which revealed his interest in Arabic music as well as  Schizzechea With Love (1988). Non calpestare i fiori nel deserto was released in Spring 1995and it sold more than 800,000 copies.

In 2010, Daniele played at Crossroads Guitar Festival, called by his friend Eric Clapton at Toyota Park in Chicago, playing with Joe Bonamassa and Robert Randolph in 2010 and a year later, he performed in concert with Clapton at Cava de’ Tirreni stadium
Daniele died of a heart attack on January 4, 2015, at Sant’Eugenio Hospital in Rome.
