Michael Greis is a former German biathlete and current biathlon coach. Michael Greis was born on August 18, 1976, in Füssen and as an athlete, he is known to have won three gold medals at the 2006 Winter Olympics and three gold medals at the World Championships.
Michael Greis is also known to have won the overall World Cup in the 2006/07 season. He was a member of the Bundeswehr’s sports promotion groups. Michael Greis’ father was an undertaker. Michael Greis grew up in Nesselwang in the Allgäu.
He has a sister who is a year older.His sister also competes in biathlon. Michael Greis trained as a communications electrician (specializing in information technology), after completing and graduating from school. He furthered his education and got a high school diploma at a telecollege.
Due to the large amount of time needed and required, he could not complete his studies in international management at the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences.On December 5, 2012, Greis announced his retirement from competitive sports and from 2016 to the beginning of 2018, he served as coach for the young Swiss biathletes on Lenzerheide.
He became the Head Coach of the US men’s biathlon team in the 2018/19 season. He had the responsibility of building a young team in Lake Placid. He subsequently became the head coach of the Polish women’s team. Michael Greis is an ambassador for the Athletes for Ukraine association and on an occasional basis, he comments on the World Cup races for Eurosport

Michael Greis is married to Alexandra. Michael Greis and Alexandra were seen together at a banquette at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany. Michael Greis stands at 5 feet 10 inches. He is currently 47 years old. He was believed to be in a relationship with his sports colleague Kathrin Hitzer from 2008 to 2010.

Some of the awards to the credit of Michael Greis include the 2006 – Bavarian Sports Prize category “Personal Prize of the Bavarian Prime Minister ”, 2006 – Germany’s Athlete of the Year – 1st place, 2006 – Champion of the Year and 2006 – Europe’s Sportsman of the Year – 3rd place
Michael Greis was voted Winter Star 2006 in the “Best Team” category (with the biathlon relay) by the viewers of Bavarian Radio and the readers of the Bild newspaper and also voted Winter Star 2006 in the “Best Male Athlete” category by the viewers of Bavarian Radio and the readers of the Bild newspaper.
He received the Holmenkollen Medal in 2011. It must be noted that Michael Greis has always worn contact lenses during competitions. However, his astigmatism was surgically corrected in the fall of 2008.
