Herbert Botticher was a German actor and director who was born on December 19, 1928. He was born in Hanover and grew up as the child of a bandmaster. Herbert Botticher was a student at the Luther Oberrealschule and after completing and graduating from high school, he received training to become an actor at the Hanover Drama School.
He was at the Drama school from 1947 to 1950 and later in 1950, he got his first-ever theater engagement. The engagement was at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruche . He subsequently played at the Theater Bielefeld in 1954 and also played at the Theater am Rubmarkt in 1957 and then at the Comedy in the Marquardt in Stuttgart in 1958.
He subsequently moved to the Munich Kammerspiele and he was a member of the ensemble for 10 years.It must be noted Herbert Botticher also worked as a freelance actor.
He featured in the musical My Fair Lady at the Frankfurt Opera in 1973 and he also directed at the Theater Koblenz, the comedy at the Bayerischer Hof in Munich and the Hamburger Kammerspiele several times.
Together with his wife in 1987, he hosted the ZDF program You Won’t Think It’s Possible. His wife was actress, Doris Gallart. It must also be noted that Herbert Botticher was involved in radio plays as well as dubbing.
Between 1961 and 1969, he lectured at the Falckenberg School in Munich. He was known to have been involved with about 302 radio plays out of which 150 episodes were in the radio play series Wumme.
Herbert Botticher Cause of Death
Herbert Botticher lived in Munich and even though he was married to Doris Gallart, they lived apart. Herbert died on October 8, 2008, in his hotel room in Dusseldorf. He was 79 years old at the time of his death. The cause of his death is believed to be a heart condition. He was buried in the Lahe city cemetery in Hanover.
