Jana Pareigis, born on June 23, 1981, in Hamburg, is a prominent German journalist and television moderator known for her dedication to addressing issues of racism and discrimination.
Pareigis is from a polyethnic migrant family with members in Germany, Sweden, and Zimbabwe. She developed an early interest in political science and African studies, which led her to study these subjects in her birthplace of Hamburg, as well as in New York City and Berlin. Pareigis’ school experiences gave her a broad awareness of world politics and cultural diversity.
Her media career began as an assistant to the editor-in-chief at N24 in Berlin. She had previously gained professional expertise while working for the United Nations Department of Peace Operations, the renowned Reuters news agency, and other foundations and newspaper publishers.
These experiences sharpened her journalistic talents and strengthened her dedication to addressing social issues on a larger scale.
Pareigis joined DW-TV in 2010 as a TV presenter for the news programme Journal.
