Dennis Meyer’s Biography
Dennis Meyer, born on September 23, 1977, in Berlin, Germany, was a professional ice hockey player who played as a defenseman/forward.
On August 5, 2022, he died at the age of 44. Meyer began his hockey career with Berliner SC Preussen in the youth ranks. He rapidly demonstrated promise and was promoted to the Preussen Devils of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) for the 1995-1996 season.
Meyer showed tremendous talent and potential despite appearing in only one game for the Devils.
Meyer has played for a number of teams in Germany, including the Berlin Capitals and TSV Erding. He also played for the German U20 national team at the 1997 World Junior Championships, where he scored one goal in six games.
Meyer had a number of great seasons, including one with ERC Haßfurt, where he scored 73 points in 54 games in 2002-2003.
He continued to shine in the lesser leagues, representing teams such as the Fischtown Pinguins, ESV Bayreuth, and Hannover Indians.
Meyer joined Wölfe Freiburg in Germany’s second tier for the 2008-2009 season, contributing nine goals and 13 assists in 45 games. In succeeding seasons, he remained a dependable performer for Wölfe Freiburg.

Meyer spent the last portions of his career with EHC Freiburg in the DEL2 league. He remained a dependable and veteran member of the club, giving essential leadership both on and off the ice.
