Bigna Silberschmidt born December 16, 1985 in St. Gallen is a Swiss journalist and television presenter.
She has moderated the news magazine 10vor10 on Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) since 2020, and she has also served as a substitute host for the knowledge programme Einstein.
Silberschmidt’s career in journalism began when she graduated from the University of Freiburg, where she studied media and communication sciences, current history, and business administration. She graduated with a trilingual master’s degree in business administration.
Silberschmidt got media expertise while working as a print journalist and at the campus radio station Unimix.
She went on to work as a deputy editorial director at 20 Minutes Bern and as a deputy managing director at a communications firm. She even launched Zalle, a print magazine devoted to in-depth journalism.
Silberschmidt joined Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) in 2015, where she began her career as a radio correspondent for Radio SRF3.
She moved to the Schweiz Aktuell format in 2016, where she worked as a reporter and, beginning in 2017, also as a presenter.
She also worked as a domestic editor, creating television reports on a variety of subjects for the news programmes Schweiz Aktuell, Tagesschau, and 10vor10.
In the midst of the corona epidemic in 2020, Silberschmidt became a moderator for the news magazine 10vor10. She was part of a moderating team that included Arthur Honegger, Urs Gredig, and Wasiliki Goutziomitros. Her debut got glowing reviews, and she rapidly became a fan favourite among the crowd.

Silberschmidt created the SRF report “I see with my fingers,” which focused on a blind woman, in partnership with Carmen Köppel for the Day of Inclusion 2022. The goal was to minimise the fear of making contact with visually impaired and blind persons while also raising awareness of their reality.
