David Wenham is an award winning Australian actor born on September 21, 1965 in Marrickville, New South Wales, Australia to Bill Wenham and Kath Wenham. Wenham and his siblings were raised by their parents as a Roman Catholic.
He had his high school education at Christian Brothers’ High School In Lewisham, Sydney. From there, he continued to the University of Western Sydney where he graduated in 1987 with a degree in Performing arts.
With the experience gathered from the University and his love for acting, Wenham quickly kicked off his acting career and landed his first roles in episodes of “A Country Practice” as an Ambulanceman and “Sons and Daughters” (1987), as debt collector.
Wenham has since gone on to appear or star in over fifty (55) films and TV series. He is well known for his role in films like 300 (2007) as Dilios, 300: Rise of an Empire (2014) as Dilios, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) as Lieutenant John Scarfield, Elvis (2022) as Hank Snow, etc.
His works over the years has been recognized by all and was named a Member of the Order of Australia at the 2023 Australia Day Honours. In 2006, he also won Best Lead Actor in Television Drama at the Australian Film Institute Awards.
He previously won that same award in 1997 for his role in “Simone de Beauvoir’s Babies.
Wenham isn’t married. However, he has been with his long time partner, Kate Agnew since 1994. The two have been blessed with two daughters namely Eliza Jane Wenham and Millie Wenham.
