Who Is Wolfgang Trepper?
Wolfgang Trepper is an award-winning German cabaret artist and presenter born on May 9, 1961, in Rheinhausen. He was actively involved in sports for several years before focusing solely on cabaret.
He was a handball coach at OSC Rheinhausen from 1992 and was able to help his side gain promotion to the Bundesliga in the 1992/1993 season. However, they failed to stay up in the Bundesliga and hence were relegated again in the 1993/1994 season.
Despite their drop from the Bundesliga, Trepper was still with them until the end of the 1994/1995 season. He went on to moderate his first known satirical show in 1997 on Radio Duisburg with Marc Weiss called “Streichzart”.
He worked as moderator of the show from 1997 to 2002 and was head of the service at the same radio station from 1998 to 2007. During that period, he was also director of the show “Treppes Peppers” till 2007.
His cabaret journey started in 2003 while he was still working on radio. As we speak, he has established himself as a great cabaret artist and has introduced at least 22 programs.
He travels across the country to perform and manages to do over 270 Performances a year since he became a cabaret artist in 2003. He was cast in the musical “Klein Pardon” as Grandpa Schlönzke at the Capitol Theater in Dusseldorf in 2011/2012.
That same year, he started co-moderating the series “Da wird mir uel” with Anastasia Zamphoumdis until 2015. The two teamed up again in 2016 to moderate the WISO consumer agents on ZDF.
He formed another great partnership with Mary Roos from 2015 to 2019 on their show “Nutten, Koks undfrischestrawberries” which was a massive success. They toured the country together with the show and won several awards as well.
In 2018, the show earned them an LEA Award after winning an Honorary award of the Bremen Comedy Award in 2017. In addition to that, the show won a smago! award in 2016 for Touring Production of the Year.
Other awards won by Trepper in his illustrious career as a cabaret artist include Hamburg Comedy Cup (2009), Bremen Comedy Award (2013), and Smago! Award (2019) etc.
