Who Is Tom Pelphrey? 

Tom Pelphrey is an American actor born Thomas J. Pelphrey on July 28, 1982 to Richard Pelphrey and Laurie Pelphrey in Howell Township, New Jersey. He was raised by both parents in Howell where he schooled as well.

He had his high school education at Howell High School where he graduated in 2000. From there, he enrolled at Rutgers University (Mason Gross School of the Arts) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2004.

His acting journey started right after college where he was cast as Jonathan Randall on the CBS soap opera “Guiding Light” in 2004. The series was a success and so was Pelphrey’s performances as he earned a number of Daytime Emmy Award nominations and won about two of them.

Reviews from the public, including experts were all positive as many felt he played the anti-hero role perfectly. For his performance in “Guiding Light” from 2004 to 2009, Pelphrey won Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Younger Actor” in 2006 and 2008. He was also nominated in 2005 and 2007 but lost to Bryton McClure.

He’s also well known for his role as Mick Dante in “As The World Turns” where he appeared in 29 episodes. His performance again earned him an Emmy pre-nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

He has made brief appearances in TV series like Black Box (2014), The Following (2013), Blue Bloods (2012), Body of Proof (2011), The Good Wife (2010), etc. He then secured a more major role in 2015 in the action drama series “Banshee” playing the role of Kurt Bunker.

Pelphrey followed that up with another major role in “Iron Fist” as Ward Meachum, appearing in 21 episodes. He landed a role as Ben Davis in Ozark from 2020 to 2022 and received a number of nominations for his performance. They include Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film, Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
