Romina Power’s life has been defined by her artistic pursuits, both in acting and music. From her controversial film roles to her international music success, she has left a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.

Despite facing personal challenges, Romina remains dedicated to her passion for the arts and continues to create and inspire others with her talents.

Who Is Romina Power?

Romina Francesca Power was born on October 2, 1951, in Los Angeles, California. She is an American actress and singer, best known for her successful music duo with ex-husband Albano Carrisi.

Romina is the daughter of Tyrone Power, a famous American cinema star, and Mexican actress Linda Christian. Her parents met and fell in love in Rome, which is why she was given the name Romina. Francesca, her middle name, is an homage to the chapel of Santa Francesca Romana, where her parents were married.

Romina had a difficult upbringing as a result of her parents’ divorce in 1956. Following their split, she and her younger sister Taryn were moved to Mexico to live with their maternal grandmother. They later lived with their mother and her new husband, Edmund Purdom, for a short time.

Eventually, they were sent to boarding schools in England, Switzerland, and Italy. Romina attended a variety of schools, including Kent’s Cobham Hall School.

Romina and her mother eventually moved into a penthouse in the Roman neighbourhood of Parioli.
Romina’s passion in the entertainment industry began when she was a child. She began auditioning for film roles at the age of 12 and had her cinematic debut at the age of 14 in the Italian film “Menage all’italiana.”

She rose to prominence for parts that emphasised her sex appeal, which sparked controversy and criticism. Her role in the film “How I Learned to Love Women” drew harsh criticism from the Italian people, government, and Catholic Church in 1966.

The film’s moral content was deemed doubtful by the Vatican newspaper, and it was subsequently prohibited in Italy. Romina, on the other hand, did not perceive herself as a “Lolita” and later expressed regret for allowing her mother to accept suggestive film parts.

Romina has an interest in music in addition to her acting career. She was influenced by American musicals, Mexican Mariachi bands, and 1960s Italian music. She encountered The Beatles and Bob Dylan in her early teens, which inspired her to begin producing music.

Romina and her husband, Albano Carrisi, created the music group Al Bano & Romina Power in 1975, which went on to reach international fame. They published several albums in several languages and competed in the Eurovision Song Contest. Among their biggest songs were “Felicità,” “Sharazan,” and “Ci sarà.”

Despite their artistic success, Romina and Albano struggled in their personal life. They divorced in 2012 after their divorce was finalised in 1999. They are the parents of four children.

Romina moved to the United States in 2007 because she wanted to establish herself as a painter and writer. She was bothered by being viewed solely as a performer and by the Italian press’s intrusion. She lived in Palm Springs with her mother till her mother died in 2011.

Romina has dabbled in several fields during her career. In 2005, she was a judge on the Italian TV show “Ballando con le Stelle,” organised painting exhibitions in Milan, and directed her film “Upaya.”

In 2012, she published the CD “Da lontano,” which included songs she wrote in 1999. Romina is still living and working in the United States.
